About the Project

The Parnaíba VI plant is an expansion of Parnaíba V and features a new service water tank, a multimedia filter, and a double-stage reverse osmosis system. The system has been fully integrated with Parnaíba V, allowing both to use each other's filters and pumps when necessary, increasing the availability of the supervisory system and control software. Reditech was contracted by UPE to provide all automation for the water treatment plant and effluent treatment plant.

Challenge

The integration between Parnaíba V and VI required a control system capable of:

  • integrating the systems continuously and securely
  • switching between V and VI assets when necessary
  • combining new equipment with the existing infrastructure
  • ensuring operational reliability and process quality
  • being fully tested, validated, and commissioned

Our Contribution:

Engineering & Automation:

  • Logic Design (PLC and Supervisory – Siemens)
  • Executive Design (electrical design)
  • Assembly of electrical panels
  • System configuration for asset management

FAT – Factory Acceptance Test:

  • FAT Hardware: inspection of panels and functional tests
  • FAT Software: remote testing using Reditech simulator

Commissioning & Startup:

  • Commissioning carried out at both Parnaíba V and Parnaíba VI
  • Validation of complete integration between the two systems
  • Start-up and handover to plant operators

Results:

  • Fully integrated operation between Parnaíba V and VI
  • Increased operational availability with shared resources
  • Reliable automation of filtration and reverse osmosis processes
  • System tested, validated and safely commissioned
